Overfreight train mesh IDs allow players to replace default train bodies with custom community-built rolling stock, ranging from high-speed express trains to passenger coaches and specialized locomotives. In the Roblox railway simulation Overfreight (created by developer OneSkyVed), train customization is unlocked using gems rather than Robux game passes. Players input custom Roblox mesh IDs, texture IDs, and scale configurations directly through the in-game train customization menu.
How Custom Train Meshes Work in Overfreight
Train mesh customization in Overfreight expanded from an experimental beta feature into a full system. Rather than being restricted behind a paid game pass, developer OneSkyVed made locomotive and car customization unlockable with in-game gems.
Unlocking customization for a train requires 5 gems per train unit. Once unlocked on a specific train, players gain access to the complete mesh and livery configuration tools.
Gems can be earned in two documented ways:
- Completing daily quests in the shop, which award 10 gems per task and can autocomplete while AFK.
- Watching opt-in regional ads when available, which grant 5 gems per ad. Ad cooldowns vary by region and can take between 15 and 17 hours to reset.
Train customization passes are permanent to that individual locomotive. You cannot delete a locomotive that has had a customization pass unlocked without losing the spent gems, and the game currently does not offer gem refunds.
Step-by-Step Train Mesh and Texture Setup
Applying custom train meshes and liveries requires configuring IDs within the train management menu:
- Purchase or spawn your train in-game, then select the Configuration option.
- Spend 5 gems to unlock the customization slot for the train.
- Open the mesh input menu. The left panel shows the livery and mesh preview template, while the right side provides input fields for IDs.
- Input your Mesh ID and Mesh Texture ID. These numbers correspond to Roblox asset IDs uploaded to the Creator Hub under development items.
- Set the size and offset values. The game allows a maximum mesh size limit of 30, 30, 30, but creator tutorials recommend smaller adjustment values such as 1.5, 2.5, or 5 to match game scale realistically.
- Confirm the configuration. If a mesh or texture fails to load on the initial attempt due to rendering delays, pasting the configuration string again or rejoining the server resolves the temporary load error.
Custom car lengths can be applied visually through meshes, though the base game engine still calculates platform clearance using default train length metrics. You can also configure middle locomotives, wheel assemblies, passenger carriages, and freight wagons through corresponding mesh ID fields.
Featured Community Meshes and Creators
The Overfreight builder community has created a broad library of real-world rolling stock and special models. Because configurations and ID strings are created independently by community modelers, creator uploads and raw configuration strings are distributed through community Discord servers and dedicated showcase descriptions.

Advanced Mesh Setups: Custom Stations and Monorails
Community creators have used the mesh system alongside specific track manipulation techniques to build setups not natively included in Overfreight's build menu.
Custom Elevated Monorails
Creator Orbuthiway introduced functional suspended monorails using a combination of lowered track beds and elevated train meshes:
- Place Advanced Rail tracks with parallel track set to 2 and grid snap disabled.
- Adjust track elevation down to -10.0.
- Spawn a 230 km/h train with 2 cars total, unlock configuration with gems, and paste the monorail track mesh string onto the signaled track.
- Spawn a secondary 230 km/h train to serve as the moving monorail consist, configure its mesh ID, and place it along the designated route.
- The monorail consist can negotiate turns by connecting the lowered -10.0 track into default passenger stations, which will properly load passengers.
Custom Station Platforms
Because Overfreight lacks a dedicated freeform station builder, builder Ecanlilla developed a modular station mesh that mounts directly over rail segments:
- Lay bad rail tracks with snap disabled to form platform foundations, setting height adjustments to -1.0, -1.5, or -1.6 to avoid an underpass appearance.
- Lay parallel operational lines using either Generic Rails or Advanced Rails where passenger trains will actually stop.
- Set track signals on the platform rails to the left side to keep stationary trains aligned.
- Spawn designated diesel engines (such as the 110 km/h and 140 km/h variants), unlock configuration with gems, and paste the modular platform configurations (P1, P2, and P3).
- Attach passenger coach consists (up to 10 to 12 coaches, within the game's 30-coach limit) to adjust platform spacing so passenger cars do not collide with mesh walls.
Troubleshooting Overfreight Mesh IDs
If custom train meshes or liveries do not render correctly in Overfreight, check the following points identified in community testing:
- Incomplete loading: Custom textures or 3D mesh parts often take multiple paste attempts or server refreshes to stream from Roblox servers. If a mesh appears blank or untextured, paste the configuration string a second time.
- Missing textures: If your mesh appears completely white or gray, confirm whether the model relies on an independent Mesh Texture ID. Models exported without embedded vertex colors require a valid decal asset ID in the texture field.
- Visual misalignment: If a locomotive model floats above the track or sinks into the ground, inspect the offset and size values in the configuration window. Avoid extreme scale multipliers that exceed your bogie coordinates.
- Driving visibility: Certain complex locomotive meshes (such as the Indonesian CC206) feature modeled interiors but are not fully optimized for first-person manual driving cameras. If cabin vision is obscured, switch to external chase cameras while driving.
